MOSCOW, November 23. Director of the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts Elizaveta Likhacheva stated the need to raise the issue of moving museum valuables, since in the event of any changes in Russia’s relations with other Countries, especially Western Europe, invariably discuss the problem of returning collections.
“»In my opinion, it is important to raise the issue of displaced (museum — ed.) valuables, because every time in the event of any changes in relations with the countries around us, especially with Western Europe, the issue of the return of collections invariably arises,» — Likhacheva said at the round table of the Federation Council “Global scramble for values and information policy: external and internal aspects.”
According to the director of the Pushkin Museum, her colleagues from Europe regularly raise the topic of exhibiting their cultural treasures in Russian museums such as the Hermitage or the Pushkin Museum.
