SIMFEROPOL, 29 NovIn the morning, power supply was restored to 16.8 thousand residents of Crimea, less than 34 thousand people remain without power after the storm in the south of Russia, the press service of the State Unitary Enterprise «Krymenergo» reported.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Crimea, at 13.00 (Moscow time), 45 thousand residents remained without electricity in the republic.
«As of 15.00, less than 34 thousand subscribers in Simferopol (12.1 thousand), Saki (6.4 thousand), Black Sea (5.7 thousand), Bakhchisarai (3.5 thousand), Belogorsk (1.3 thousand) and other regions of Crimea,” the company reported.
On Wednesday, from 10.00 to 15.00, power engineers restored power to the homes of 16.8 thousand people. In total, during the period of bad weather, the operation of 10 110 kV power lines, 28 35 kV power lines, and 479 6-10 kV power lines was restored, the company noted.
273 teams consisting of 679 specialists from the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan «Krymenergo» and related network and resource supply organizations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, municipal services, private and other organizations continue to work on eliminating the consequences of the storm and restoring the networks. 240 units of special equipment, including all-terrain vehicles, were involved. Work continues around the clock.
Previously, the hydrometeorological center of Crimea and the Ministry of Emergency Situations announced a new storm warning for Tuesday and Wednesday due to increased wind and heavy rainfall.
Over the weekend, a Mediterranean cyclone hit Crimea, bringing stormy weather with downpours and hurricane-force winds of up to 40 meters per second. Many villages in Crimea were without power, trees were knocked down, gas pipelines were damaged, there was a strong storm at sea, and waves flooded the coastal areas of Evpatoria and the Saki-Evpatoria highway. In Sevastopol, due to stormy weather, Monday was declared a non-working day for social workers, in Crimea — a day off for everyone. Emergency regimes have been introduced in Sevastopol and 10 municipalities of Crimea.
