VAZ SUVs Lada Niva Legend and Niva Travel have returned ABS and Euro 5 compliance

Cars of the Russian brand were assigned the 2024 model year and their cost was named: of course, buying more modern versions will cost more.

Last year, the AVTOVAZ plant, located in Tolyatti, stood idle for several months due to a shortage of components. In order for local manufacturers to continue producing cars in the Russian Federation, the authorities decided to temporarily relax the requirements for manufactured vehicles. As a result, in June 2022, production of the Lada Granta was resumed, a month later the classic SUV Niva Legend joined the Grants, and in August the Lada Niva Travel returned to the production line. Whenever possible, options and equipment are returned to cars.

For example, in October last year, the Niva Travel SUV received air conditioning and heated front seats. In February, the current list of options was supplemented by a multimedia system with a radio, rear view camera, USB, Aux and MicroSD connectors, a handsfree system and a seven-inch screen. By the way, multimedia appeared in cars back in 2019: then the pre-reform car was produced under the Chevrolet brand with a logo in the form of a “bow tie.”

Now Lada Niva Travel and Niva Legend have returned the anti-lock brake system, as well as a toxicity reduction system, which makes SUVs compliant with the Euro-5 environmental standard. The AVTOVAZ press service noted that engine calibrations and control units for the specified standard were developed in the Russian Federation, and the corresponding cars underwent a full cycle of tests at various temperatures, for electromagnetic compatibility, as well as mountain tests, etc.

ABS and a system for Euro-5 compliance were received on all trim levels of both Lada SUVs. In addition, the top versions of Niva Travel now have access to cruise control with a speed limiter function, an on-board computer, constant backlighting of the instrument panel and two-color alloy wheels.

The company assigned the modernized SUVs the 2024 model year. It is known that the recommended retail price of the updated version of the Lada Niva Legend starts at 927,500 rubles, and the cost of Niva Travel starts at 1,215,500 rubles. It is worth noting that these price tags are significantly higher compared to the cost of current SUVs.

According to the official Lada website, the recommended retail price for the basic version of the Niva Legend of the current model year is 829,900 rubles, for the top version they ask for at least 1,068,900 rubles. In turn, the initial version of the current Niva Travel SUV will cost 1,198,900 rubles, and for the most expensive configuration you will have to pay at least 1,483,900 rubles.

Currently AVTOVAZ is also developing new products for the Lada brand. At the beginning of 2025, production of the Iskra family will begin at the company’s Tolyatti plant. It is assumed that it will subsequently replace the current Grants, but they are planned to be kept on the assembly line until 2027.
