Baroness Glenys Kinnock Holyhead, a former minister, MEP and wife of former Labor Party leader Lord Kinnock, has died aged 79.
Her family said in a statement: “With our deepest It is with sadness that we announce the death of Glenys Kinnock. Glenys died peacefully in her sleep early Sunday morning at her home in London.
“She was Neil's beloved wife and life partner, beloved mother to Steve and Rachel and adored grandmother. Neil was with her in her last moments. They were married for 56 years.
“A proud democratic socialist, she spent her life campaigning in the UK and abroad for justice and the fight against poverty.”

Baroness Kinnock served as Europe Minister and Africa and United Nations Minister under Gordon Brown's Labor government between 2009 and 2010.
She represented Wales in the European Parliament from 1994 until 2009, when she was appointed to the House of Lords.
Her family said: “Passed through and through by education, she was a valued and respected schoolteacher before beginning her political career as a Member of the European Parliament and then becoming a peer in the House of Lords, from where she served as minister for the three great passions of her life: Europe , Africa and the UN.
“She was a great friend to many people and causes and was truly loved. Glenys survived Alzheimer's disease after being diagnosed in 2017 and maintained her cheerfulness and endless capacity for love for as long as she could, never complaining and displaying the innate courage with which she overcame all difficulties throughout her life.
“The family are of course devastated and ask that their privacy be respected. Funeral details will be communicated in due course.»

Among the first to pay tribute to Baroness Kinnock was Sir Keir Starmer, the current Labor leader, who called her a “true champion” for the party.
“On behalf of the entire Labor Party, I want to pay tribute to Glenys Kinnock on the sad news of her passing,” he said. “Glenys was a lifelong passionate campaigner for social justice at home and abroad.
“She supported Neil through his leadership and went on to have an impressive political career as a Member of the European Parliament in the House of Lords and as a Minister in the last Labor government, he focused his attention on Europe and Africa.
“Neil and Glenys had the most wonderful partnership, they were there for each other, through thick and thin, with a love and commitment that immediately became obvious when you saw them together. In recent years, family members have said, this has meant caring for Glenys as she did at worst with Alzheimer's.
“But what we will all remember is Glenys as a true champion of the Labor Party and Labor values. parties. movement, a pioneering woman to whom we owe a huge debt. My sincere condolences to Neil, Stephen, Rachel and all the family at this sad time.»
