SIRIUS, November 30 Most of the grants from the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) go to support young scientists, said Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
The Russian Science Foundation provides grant support for scientific projects on a competitive basis.
«Over the past year, the fund supported 708 organizations and about 53 thousand scientists, the majority of which, 38 thousand, are young researchers and specialists,» Chernyshenko said at the plenary session of the III Congress of Young Scientists.
According to him, the total amount of grant funding amounted to 32 billion rubles.
The Congress of Young Scientists is a key event of the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin in order to strengthen the role of science and technology in solving the most important problems of the development of society and the country.
