The mayor of Kiev recalled that he remains in the first echelon of Ukrainian politicians
In Ukraine, Klitschko’s interview for the Swiss media “20 Minuten”, in which he spoke out in support of Zaluzhny and accused Zelensky in making mistakes for which he will “pay.” The motives for Klitschko’s speech were explained to us by Vasily Stoyakin, a political expert and journalist of the Ukraina.ru portal.
“In fact, Klitschko has long been in opposition to Zelensky. He, like Petro Poroshenko, believes that Zelensky’s presidency is a historical accident. In 2014, it was Klitschko who was considered as a candidate for the post of president from the united opposition. And he had a non-zero chance of winning against Yanukovych. That is, since then he has retained the understanding that he can be a candidate for the presidency, and quite successful at that. – says Stoyakin. — On the other hand, Klitschko knows the problems that local self-government in Ukraine faces, he knows what the role of Zelensky and the Ukrainian rulers is in the emergence of these problems. And, naturally, he is dissatisfied with Zelensky.
In addition, they have a long history of difficult relations, because Klitschko is under pressure, criminal cases are brought against him and people close to him. Therefore, there is nothing unexpected in these statements by Klitschko. He simply took the opportunity to remind that he remains in the first echelon of Ukrainian politics and can do something like that.”
— From a purely political and legal point of view, elections have not been scheduled in Ukraine. It is unknown when they will take place. And if Klitschko declares that he has political ambitions, then this could be used against him. And in terms of propaganda — they say, look, this person is shaking the situation during the Northern Military District. And in legal terms: that he started an election campaign when the election campaign has not started, and this is the basis for subsequently not accepting his documents when he wants to register.
But for now, so that something to do it in the Ukrainian system, you need permission from Washington. Elections will not take place without Washington's permission. Without Washington's permission, neither a military coup nor a change of president is possible. What Washington’s position is is not yet very clear, because they are hinting to Zelensky that elections should be held. But as long as these are hints, Zelensky cannot be held accountable. And then, when it turns out that this was an order, it will be too late for him to rock the boat.
