The production version of the SUV with a traditional body will debut in the first half of 2024, and fans of the Japanese brand will have to wait until 2025 for the cross-coupe go.
The Japanese manufacturer plans to add six new electric vehicles to its old-world lineup by 2026. With their help, Toyota intends to get closer to its goal of offering only zero-emission models in Europe by 2035. The company intends to achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2040. She showed a couple of announced “green” new products at the Toyota Kenshiki forum, which was held in Brussels.
Toyota Urban SUV Concept < p>A harbinger of one of the future models is the Toyota Urban SUV concept. It is known that the production version will be presented in the first half of next year, sales on the European market will also start in 2024. The new crossover will take its place in the B-SUV segment, which currently includes the hybrid Yaris Cross. The company noted that it used existing experience in developing an all-electric urban SUV.
The dimensions of the concept are already known: the length of the Toyota Urban SUV is 4300 mm, width – 1820 mm, height – 1620 mm; and the manufacturer has not yet declassified the distance between the axles. The company emphasized that the model will have a transformable interior that can be adapted to comfortably accommodate passengers or to increase the cargo compartment as needed.

Urban SUV daytime running lights are in the form of a thin LED curved strip that runs across the entire width of the front part under the edge of the hood, and on the sides in the lower part are the main headlight units, also in the form of thin LED lines. In place of the radiator grille there is a solid plug, and a laconic air intake is built into the lower part of the front bumper. The concept also received a black body kit around the perimeter of the body, “squared” lining on the wheel arches.
The front and center pillars of the Toyota Urban SUV are black, as is the roof with silver roof rails. The stern was decorated with a spoiler divided in two at the top of the tailgate, as well as unusually shaped lights, which are connected by a wide strip. The lower part of the rear bumper received a diffuser divided in the middle with a thin reflective line. The concept's front door handles are retractable, while the rear door handles are located next to the glass. There are still cameras in place of traditional side mirrors.
Technical details will be announced later. So far, Toyota has only said that the new electric crossover intended for the European market will have options with both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, while “all-wheel drive is a key part of Toyota’s product DNA.” It is also known that the model will receive two traction batteries of different capacities to choose from.

The second new product on the European market will be based on the Toyota Sport Crossover concept, which debuted in April of this year at the Shanghai Motor Show. The cross-coupe will also be sold in China; its production for the Middle Kingdom will be established at the facilities of a joint venture between Toyota and BYD.
There are practically no visual differences between the concepts for China and the Old World, except that in the second version the curved strip in the head optics is blue, not white. As the company said, the European production version of this crossover with a coupe-like body will go on sale in 2025. Information about the new technology will appear later.
