ULAN-UDE, December 7 The preliminary cause of the fire of a Tu-204 cargo plane in Ulan-Ude could have been engine surging, reports the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in the Telegram channel.
The head of Buryatia, Alexey Tsydenov, said on Thursday that the engine of a Tu-204 cargo plane caught fire during takeoff at Ulan-Ude airport, and the car was grounded. The plane was making a cargo flight to China. There were five crew members on board, no injuries.
«According to preliminary data, on December 7, 2023, due to engine surge, a Tu-204m cargo plane en route from Ulan-Ude to Zhangzhou landed at Baikal Airport in Ulan-Ude,» the report says.
The department noted that the causes and circumstances of the accident are being established, and a pre-investigation check is being carried out on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic safety rules and operation of air transport).
