MOSCOW, December 5The winners of the literary prize «Big Book» in 2023 were awarded on Tuesday at the Pashkov House, the main prize was taken by Evgeny Vodolazkin with the novel «Chagin», and the winner of the popular vote was Zakhar Prilepin, the correspondent reports.
«»This year, out of 15 books, so diverse, so different directions, and generational, so bright, the first place, which will now be announced, was a clear leader. It came out ahead of everyone unconditionally and immediately. The second and third places were only 14 points,” said Irina Barmetova, a member of the Literary Academy of the Big Book Prize.
The 2023 prize winner was Evgeniy Vodolazkin with his novel “Chagin.” This is not the first time Vodolazkin has received the main prize: in 2013, his book “Laurel” was already recognized as the best.
“»I would say that I am a veteran of this movement, because this is the sixth time I have made it to the finals. I think this is my main achievement, because you can emerge from the finals as winners, or you may not get out, but in itself getting into the finals shows that you can still portray something. And when you get to first place, and I had both first and second places, then this is a situation close to happiness,» the writer told reporters.
