DUBAI, December 9, Ivan Orekhov Russian boxer Alexander Povetkin told reporters at the IBA Congress that Ukrainian Oleksandr Usik will not be easy in a fight against Tyson Fury, despite the Briton’s unconvincing fight against ex-champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Francis Ngannou. The fight between Usik and Fury for the title of absolute world heavyweight champion will take place in February in Saudi Arabia. Fury defeated Ngannou via split decision in October.
“”I watched the fight (Fury vs. Ngannou). The Briton came out relaxed, most likely without much preparation. The element of the show was making money. But Fury is far from a fool. He is not weak, uncomfortable and spiritual. Although I also really like Usik “I'm impressed, he's a strong boxer, but he definitely won't get a gift. I can't name a favorite,” Povetkin said.
The athlete also added that he has no desire to follow Fury’s example and fight eminent mixed martial arts fighters.
““Everyone should mind their own business. Maybe a good offer will interest you. But I haven’t thought about it, I’ll take care of my health for now. The show is not my thing,” Povetkin said.
