MOSCOW, December 8The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine in the Telegram channel called on residents of the country to refuse to watch a certain Russian series that has gained popularity among Ukrainian teenagers.
The Ministry does not indicate the name of the series, but, according to Ukrainian media, we are talking about the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the Asphalt.”
“In the Ukrainian Internet space, in particular among teenagers, a Russian-produced series is being distributed, which directly disseminates violence and aesthetics inherent in the aggressor country. It contains hostile propaganda, the existence of which in Ukraine in times of war is unacceptable… We call on opinion leaders and everyone citizen of Ukraine to consciously make a decision and stop consuming the Russian product forever,” the ministry said in a statement.
As the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture emphasized, Russian media content is not broadcast on Ukrainian platforms, and Russian platforms are carefully blocked: among those blocked for residents of Ukraine there are already 22 Russian media services. Nevertheless, bloggers continue to spread information about the new series, thereby contributing to “Russian information and psychological operations” and provoking the public to look for illegal ways to watch the series, the department added.
The premiere episodes of the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the Asphalt,” starring Ruzil Minekaev, Ivan Yankovsky, Sergei Burunov and Zhora Kryzhovnikov, were released in the Wink and Start online cinemas on November 9. The series tells the story of youth criminal gangs against the backdrop of perestroika.
