The majority of goods for winter sports were ordered by residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, the Sverdlovsk region, the republics of Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.
On the eve of the ski season, Russians' interest in winter sports products has tripled compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the demand for injury protection policies has also increased, SberStrakhovanie and Megamarket found out.
Among all purchases related to winter disciplines and equipment, marketplace users most often purchased clothing that protects from the cold. 49% of all orders were thermal underwear and isothermal overalls. The next most popular items were accessories: ski caps, gloves, masks and goggles, together they accounted for 27% of all purchases. The remaining orders were distributed among sports equipment.
Thus, of all areas of winter sports, analysts noted the greatest interest among service users in hockey. Equipment and ammunition accounted for 29% of purchases in the direction. And most of the orders were made by residents of the Khabarovsk Territory. The second most popular item was a related activity — ice skates — 25%. Next with 23% and 12% are cross-country and alpine skiing, respectively. Interest in snowboarding is slightly lower: the share of orders for boards and components was 11%.
In the country as a whole, goods for winter disciplines were most often ordered by residents of Moscow and the Moscow region (21%), St. St. Petersburg (7%), the Republic of Tatarstan (5%), the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Sverdlovsk region (4% each).
According to SberStrakhovanie, in the fall, Russians took out 160 thousand policies covering the risks of sports injuries. Of these, 60% of policies provide protection against domestic injuries and incidents while playing sports at the amateur level. Another 40% of policies were covered by the Sports Protection program, which is suitable for professional athletes. Compared to the same period last year, the demand for this type of insurance increased by 55%.

Among winter sports fans, hockey players were the most frequently insured — they took out 2 thousand policies.
