A man accused of attempting to blow up a military registration and enlistment office was arrested in Novosibirsk

NOVOSIBIRSK, December 14 The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk on Thursday took into custody the accused of attempting to commit a terrorist attack at one of the military registration and enlistment offices in Novosibirsk, the court reports.
The court’s website reports that on Thursday it considered the petition of the investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Novosibirsk to select a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Evgeniy Ryapolov, accused of committing crimes under Part 30 of Article 30, Part 1 of Article 205 (terrorist attack), Part 1 of the Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, transfer, sale and storage of explosives).
“”By the court's decision, the investigator's petition was satisfied, Evgeniy Ryapolov was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 1 month 25 days, that is, until February 6, 2024. The resolution did not enter into legal force,” the message says.
The court reports that, according to the investigator, Ryapolov, in order to carry out an explosion and other actions that would frighten the population and create a danger of death, placed an explosive device on the windowsill of the military commissariat of the Oktyabrsky District and the Central District of Novosibirsk “in order to destabilize the authorities.” At the same time, he did not complete the crime due to circumstances beyond his control, since it was stopped by the police.

Last Wednesday, a law enforcement source announced the arrest of a suspect in an attempted terrorist attack on the night of December 5 this year. An improvised explosive device was discovered near one of the military commissariats in Novosibirsk.
Previously convicted 27-year-old Evgeny Ryapolov in Novosibirsk is known for his participation in the local cell of the right-wing radical movement “Restrukt”, created by Maxim Martsinkevich (aka Tesak). In 2017, a court sentenced a then 21-year-old young man to four years in a general regime colony for possession of explosives and attempted illegal production of explosives. In addition, in 2016, he received a suspended sentence for beating two people based on ideological hatred.
