KAZAN, December 13, Adela Ziatdinova President of the Russian Tennis Federation (FTR) Shamil Tarpishchev said that in terms of the number of finals at the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) and Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournaments, Russian athletes had the best season in history.
““We had 19 finals – this is the best result in history. This is if we take the main WTA and ATP tournaments,” said Tarpishchev.
The main tournaments include Grand Slam tournaments, ATP and WTA final tournaments, ATP 500 and Masters tournaments, WTA 500, 1000 and Premier tournaments.
Russians and Belarusians, according to the decisions of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), ATP and WTA, are allowed to participate in individual competitions without any restrictions, but in a neutral status. The organizations also removed tournaments in Russia and Belarus from the calendar.
