Chrysler Pacifica minivan is preparing for a major update

The restyled model of the American brand will appear no earlier than 2026. Earlier, the company said that they plan to keep the minivan on the assembly line until the end of this decade.

Currently, the Chrysler brand belongs to the young auto giant Stellantis, which aims to ensure that all its brands make a profit. It's not easy for Chrysler, with its very modest lineup, to achieve this, so it continues to work on expanding its lineup, albeit at a relatively leisurely pace.

Today, the lineup in the States includes only two models – the Pacifica minivan and the 300 sedan, which will retire very soon. Last week it became known that the top version of the large four-door has already been discontinued, and the remaining ones will remain on the assembly line until the end of this year.

You will have to wait at least a year before the appearance of new Chrysler models: the next premiere is scheduled for 2025. Until this time, the line will be based on one outdated Pacifica minivan, which, as it became known recently, the company decided to keep until the end of the current decade.

In order for the model to last until 2030, a large-scale restyling is being prepared for it, Automotive News Canada reports, citing brand CEO Christine Fewell. She did not specify the date for the release of the updated version of the minivan on the market, but explained that the refreshed Pacifica will appear after the brand’s first electric vehicle, and its release is scheduled for 2025. It is expected that the restyled minivan will appear in 2026.

According to the head of Chrysler, the brand is now “making the most of the Pacifica hybrid.” Kristin Fewell noted that Pacifica sales have grown significantly in 2023. In the first three quarters of this year, customers bought 112,198 units, which is 47.8% more than in January-September 2022. It is believed that last year's poor result was affected by supply constraints caused by “pandemic issues.” At the same time, according to Chrysler forecasts, demand for minivans will remain stable over the next decade.

There are no details yet about what awaits the model during the upcoming large-scale restyling. Let us remind you that the current generation Chrysler Pacifica was introduced in 2016, and the car underwent restyling in 2021. Last fall it became known that it had entered a new model year: as a result, Pacifica celebrated the 40th anniversary of minivans very modestly – the choice of hybrids was further reduced.

The current minivan of the 2024 model year on the home market can be bought for at least $39,090, and for the hybrid version they ask for at least $53,425. The cost of the restyled Chrysler Pacifica will probably be higher; the company will declassify prices later.

Currently, the manufacturer continues to create the first Chrysler electric car. It is known that it will be based on the STLA Large platform; The “green” new product will be a two-row crossover, which will be created based on the Airflow concept.
