Now the company is preparing to launch mass production of machines at the PSMA Rus plant located in Kaluga, which has been idle since last year.
As Vladislav Shapsha, Governor of the Kaluga Region, said in his Telegram channel, the Automobile Technologies company launched the production of a test batch of mid-size crossovers at the PSMA Rus plant. The brand and model will be declassified later: according to the head of the region, the company will announce this at the start of sales.
So far, it is known that the pilot batch will consist of 48 cars, and in 2024, according to the plan, mass production of the model should begin. According to the director for strategic development of Automotive Technologies Pavel Bezruchenko, cited by Vedomosti, cars for PSMA Rus will be produced from Chinese vehicle kits. He also added that production will begin with large-scale assembly, and later it is planned to move to a full cycle.

According to Pavel Bezruchenko, the company brings Peugeot cars from China to the Russian Federation under the parallel import scheme legalized last year. They can be purchased through a dealer with an official warranty valid for two years. He also noted that the distributor also has some Citroen models. The AT representative noted that the company is now “planning to expand its business.”
The production capacity of the enterprise in Kaluga is designed for production of 125,000 cars per year. It is expected that serial production of vehicles at the PSMA Rus site will be resumed closer to the second quarter of 2024. In the future, the Automotive Technologies company intends to put other models on the assembly line.
Last week it became known that the production of commercial vehicles had been resumed at the former Volvo plant, which is located in the Kaluga region. The AMO company, part of the Industrial Investments Group of Companies, began producing Ural Next trucks at this enterprise.
