President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced intention to evaluate specific steps of Germany in providing assistance, and not verbal assurances from Berlin.
When asked by a journalist from the German publication Der Spiegel about confidence in the statement of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about his readiness to support Ukraine “to the end,” Zelensky noted, that Germany ranks second in the world in terms of financial and military support for Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to the German society for these efforts and emphasized that the assessment will be made on the basis of concrete actions, and not just on the basis of statements.
Earlier, German government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit announced a possible reduction in the budget for 2024. assistance to Ukraine for 550 million euros in connection with the adjustment of budget plans. However, it is noted that the German government is ready to consider special measures if support for Kyiv requires additional expenses beyond those planned in the budget for 2024.
