Citroen SpaceTourer switched to a new corporate identity and became richer

In Europe, basically, only the electric version will still be available, while in other markets a diesel minibus will also be offered .

The Stellantis concern has another premiere: the updated passenger Citroen SpaceTourer is presented. Let us remind you that the company declassified the restyled commercial models of its brands back in October (they were shown en masse), followed by separate presentations of the passenger Peugeot Rifter and Traveller, Citroen Berlingo, Opel Combo Life and Zafira Life. By the way, like relatives from other brands, the refreshed SpaceTourer debuted in the form of an electric car with the prefix “e” in the name, because since last year, in most European countries, Stellantis has been selling only “green” vans (vans are also available with an internal combustion engine). However, both in certain markets of the Old World and outside this region, there are still “traditional” passenger cars — later they will be updated in the same way.

So, Citroen SpaceTourer has switched to a new corporate style of the brand, its features are a laconic oval emblem instead of a stretched double chevron and running lights consisting of three diode sections (Citroen calls this technique “light signature”). The front bumper has also changed, plus the design of the 17-inch wheels has been changed. The minibus will be offered in two lengths (4.98 or 5.33 meters), it can accommodate up to nine people.

Inside, there is a new steering wheel and a modernized front panel. The Citroen SpaceTourer also acquired a modern multimedia system with a 10-inch tablet, which now “sticks out” from the panel: because of this, the central air deflectors had to be moved lower (in the pre-reform minibus they were on the sides of the screen). The model also received a digital instrument panel (also 10-inch, it comes standard), optional wireless charging for a smartphone, additional USB-C connectors and 12-volt sockets.

The storage compartments have become more spacious, and a tiny joystick is now responsible for controlling the transmission (there was a washer). Finally, the list of equipment includes adaptive cruise control, auto braking systems (with cyclist and pedestrian detection), lane keeping, driver monitoring and traffic sign recognition.

The “green” Citroen e-SpaceTourer still has a 136-horsepower electric motor (installed on the front axle) and two battery options — with a capacity of 50 or 75 kWh. At the same time, it was announced that the van with the top battery has become longer-range: the rated range is 350 km versus 330 km for the pre-reform model (according to the WLTP cycle). The range of the model with the base battery is not specified in the global release: for example, for the related Peugeot e-Traveller it is 224 km. In some “old world” countries and outside Europe, the updated Citroen SpaceTourer will also be available with a 2.0 BlueHDi diesel engine (180 hp) in combination with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The exact start date of sales has not yet been announced, as well as prices. The pre-reform electric Citroen e-SpaceTourer in France, for example, today costs from 54,050 euros.
