With the arrival of the New Year, it’s time to think about gifts, holiday plans and finding the most magnificent Christmas tree. If sometimes this holiday is celebrated without snow, it is difficult to do without Christmas tree decorations. The production and sale of such goods not only brings satisfaction, but is also a profitable business, because there is always a demand for them. However, how to run this business legally? Do you need a certificate for Christmas decorations and artificial Christmas trees, answered the head of the Sercons testing laboratory, Anna Klimenko.
According to expert, for the legal trade of any product it is necessary to confirm the safety of the product. In the case of Christmas tree decorations and artificial trees, this can be either a letter of refusal or voluntary certification.
But if the refusal letter confirms only that the product is not subject to mandatory certification and is of a reference nature, then the declaration says that the toy and the Christmas tree comply with all the requirements of GOST and TU, and also have documentary evidence of their characteristics and are registered for a period of six months to five years.
In addition, a voluntary certificate for these products has other advantages. For example, it increases the chances of winning when participating in tenders, allows you to put a quality mark on the packaging and inspires more confidence among buyers.
The company clarified that artificial trees must be fireproof and must not have an unpleasant odor, indicating the release of harmful chemicals into the indoor air. When purchasing artificial trees, the buyer will give preference to manufacturers/sellers who have confirmed the safety of the products through laboratory tests, despite the fact that there is currently no mandatory certification requirement for artificial trees and decorations.
In the event Artificial Christmas trees may require certificates if they are marketed with built-in lighting, electric lights or an electric motor for propulsion. The use of electric current poses a danger to adults and children, therefore certification of these devices is carried out in accordance with regulations:
- according to technical regulations CU 004/2011, which provides safety parameters for low-voltage equipment;
< li>according to the technical regulations CU 020/2011, according to which electromagnetic compatibility is checked (the absence of interference with the operation of other electrical equipment).
Ultimately, the responsibility for supplying the consumer with high-quality and safe New Year's goods are taken over by the seller. Therefore, to ensure the quality of the product, request a certificate of compliance with technical regulations.
