SOCHI, December 24 Wind in four large districts of Sochi damaged overhead power lines, over 11 thousand people remain without power supply, the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations told reporters Russia in the Krasnodar region.
A storm warning continues to be in effect in the city due to bad weather.

“In Sochi, in four districts, there was a disruption in the power supply; in total, up to 11,800 people are in the power outage zone. The main reason is a break in overhead power lines. 119 people and 40 pieces of equipment are being recruited from the RSChS,” the regional Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The agency clarified that the wind also tore off the roofs of eight residential buildings, and residents of the affected houses refused to move in.
Until December 25, a storm warning is in effect in Sochi due to bad weather. Forecasters predict heavy rain, hail, wind gusts of 30 to 32 meters per second, icy roads and wet snow sticking to power lines. There is snowfall in the mountains of the resort, and an avalanche danger has also been declared at an altitude of more than 1.5 thousand meters; therefore, all ski slopes are closed, and the sale of ski passes is suspended. Depending on the actual weather, the resort's international airport is operating; there are four planes at alternate airfields that could not land in Sochi due to the wind.
