The German company is preparing a new generation of middle-class models, and the A5 Avant station wagon was the first to be tested (we made renderings of it not so long ago ). A little later it was joined by a liftback, and thanks to spy photos we have the opportunity to get our own idea of what it will look like.
The A5 model was first introduced in the spring of 2007 and was initially offered only in a two-door coupe version. Two years later it was joined by a convertible and a five-door liftback. Today, the second generation of the car, which premiered in the summer of 2016, is on the assembly line. It includes the same body options, but in the next generation the situation will change.

Previously, Audi announced a change in the naming system, as a result of which new electric models will have even numbers, and cars with internal combustion engines will have odd numbers. Thus, the heir to the current A4 station wagon will receive the name A5 Avant, and it will be accompanied by a liftback with the usual Sportback prefix. Its design is mostly similar to the station wagon, renderings of which we published a month ago. In terms of the shape of the rear part of the body, the new product will be something between the current A5 liftback and the A4 sedan. Like the station wagon, there will be lights united by a horizontal LED strip with vertical segments in the upper part. A distinctive feature of the new Sportback will be doors with window frames, while the current model has frameless windows.

The new generation Audi A5 will retain the MLB Evo platform, which is used by all modern models of the company, starting from A4. The car will be offered with a wide range of engines — most of them will be 4-cylinder, and for more powerful modifications (S5, for example) a six-cylinder engine will be offered. In addition, the car will receive a number of hybrid modifications.

The premiere of the new product is expected in the coming months.
Meanwhile, Audi decided to continue producing cars with internal combustion engines due to problems with the demand for electric vehicles.
