They haven’t talked about the technology of the upcoming “electric train” yet, but most likely, like the related SUV, the new product will be offered with a rear or all-wheel drive.
In 2021, the Chinese holding Geely and the IT giant Baidu created a joint venture Jidu Auto to produce electric cars with an advanced autopilot: Geely's share in this company was 45%, Baidu — 55%. Last year, two prototypes were presented under the Jidu brand — the Robo-01 crossover and the Robo-02 liftback. Orders for the SUV began to be accepted in the same 2022, but then the business stalled: the joint venture was unable to obtain permission for mass production (it is assumed that due to changes in legislation, Jidu Auto simply did not have enough “qualifications”). The project was restarted this year by founding a new joint company, with Geely already playing a leading role in it — its share is 65% (the remaining 35% is Baidu's share). Well, instead of Jidu, the Jiyue brand appeared, the electrocross was renamed Jiyue 01, it still entered the market.

So now the second production model has been announced: this is the liftback mentioned above, but it is assigned the index 07, and not 02, as previously expected. By the way, even Chinese specialized media noted that the number 7 today enjoys special honor among local automakers. In particular, the portfolio of the same Geely holding includes the Zeekr 007 electric sedan and the Geely Galaxy L7 hybrid SUV, in addition to the four-door Lynk & Co 07. But let's return to the upcoming new Jiyue.

Along with the announcement, branded images of the five-door were published, and judging by them, the product model is no different from last year’s concept. Exterior features include pixelated sections at the front (located above and below the headlight units), pixelated rear lights and a glass roof. There are no handles on the doors — they open using miniature buttons (the doors themselves are probably frameless). The Jiyue brand has not yet provided separate pictures of the liftback interior. However, it is already clear that Jiyue 07 received a single display across the entire width of the front panel, like the sister crossover Jiyue 01.

Jiyue electric cars are based on Geely's SEA platform. Most likely, the “seven” also has a couple of lidars and many sensors and cameras. And the liftback probably shared the technology with the SUV, that is, the Jiyue 07 will be offered in two versions: the base one will have one 272-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, and the top-end all-wheel drive will have two electric motors with a total output of 544 hp. The single-engine cross is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh; for an additional fee you can order a 100 kWh battery. In the first case, the SUV’s power reserve is 550 km (according to the CLTC cycle), in the second – 720 km. The four-wheel drive Jiyue 01 by default has a 100 kWh battery, its range is 660 km.

The Jiyue 07 liftback will make its full premiere next year. A related crossover now costs from 219,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2,813,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. Geely and Baidu have not yet announced plans to bring the Jiyue brand outside the Chinese market.
