SARATOV, December 26The Penza Regional Court has begun to consider a criminal case against four residents of the region, including a teenager, accused of sabotage on the railway, the court reports on its page on the VKontakte social network.
Earlier, the investigation reported that in December 2022, four young people, including a 16-year-old teenager, acting as a group of people by prior conspiracy, committed two arson attacks on infrastructure facilities on the Kuibyshev railway in Penza. All four were charged under Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Sabotage”, three of them were arrested.
“The Penza Regional Court has begun to consider a criminal case against five residents of the Penza region, four of whom are accused of two acts of sabotage — arson… of which two are also accused of committing crimes against property and one defendant is accused of theft… The court will have to investigate materials of the case, listen to all testimony, debates of the parties, the last word of the defendants and make a decision on this criminal case,” the message says.
It was explained in court that, according to the charge, a person unidentified by the investigation, for a fee, attracted a teenager born in 2006, who, together with three of his acquaintances, set fire to two transport facilities on December 21 and 22, 2022 infrastructure — a relay cabinet and a sectioning post for a contact network at the Penza-2 station, which caused damage to the branches of JSC Russian Railways in the amount of more than 640 thousand rubles.
It is clarified that the teenager is also charged with the theft of two bicycles, theft of phones, a game console and a gamepad, and another defendant in the sabotage case, together with a 19-year-old accomplice, is also accused of stealing more than 192 thousand rubles from the account of a local resident.
