The Chinese all-terrain vehicle with the addition of Urban and a hybrid power plant will reach Russian dealers in the first quarter of next year.
The Tank brand belongs to the “celestial” concern Great Wall. The first-born of the brand on the Russian market was the Tank 300 frame, its live sales started in mid-March of this year. Next, the line was supplemented by a second model – the large SUV Tank 500. Previously, it was offered only with a traditional internal combustion engine, but soon the model family will be replenished with a hybrid version.

This version of the Tank 500 will receive the addition of Urban to its name. The Russian office of the brand positions this option as an urban frame SUV with a seven-seater interior and a hybrid “filling”. Its power plant is based on a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine, its output is 245 hp and maximum torque is 380 Nm. It is paired with a small battery and a nine-speed automatic transmission that integrates a 54 hp electric motor. (268 Nm).
The SUV with the Urban boost has a total output of the power plant of 299 hp. (same as the Tank 500 version equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 engine). The total maximum torque is 616 Nm (the version already presented in the Russian Federation has 500 Nm). It takes 7.9 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds” of the hybrid version of the “five hundredth”. Combined fuel consumption is 8.5 liters per 100 km (based on the NEDC cycle used in China): this result is three liters less than the V6 version.
The Russian office of the brand emphasized that the Tank 500 Urban has retained its all-wheel drive system, which is implemented according to the Torque on Demand scheme: it assumes that traction is constantly transmitted to the rear axle, the front one is connected if necessary. There is a reduction gear, several driving modes for asphalt and off-road, including customizable, as well as cross-axle differential locks and the Tank-turn function (allows you to reduce the turning circle on rough terrain in limited space).
< p>The Tank 500 Urban is designed for seven passengers; the seats in the third and second rows fold, and the rear sofa has an electric folding drive in a 50/50 ratio. When unfolded, the second row can be adjusted longitudinally. Let us remind you that the length of the frame SUV is 4878 mm, width – 1934 mm, height – 1905 mm, and the distance between the axles is 2850 mm. Ground clearance is 224 mm.
The hybrid version of the frame SUV has differences in appearance from the gasoline version already presented in the Russian Federation. Thus, the Tank 500 Urban received a different radiator grille and wheels designed in a different style; in addition, its spare wheel is located on the trunk door from the outside.
The Russian representative office of Tank noted that more detailed information about the “urban” version of the “500th”, about the list of its equipment and characteristics will be known later. Prices will be announced closer to the sales start date. It is known that the hybrid version will reach Russian dealers in the first quarter of 2024.
