MOSCOW, December 26 British actor Richard Franklin, known for the TV series “Doctor Who,” died on Christmas morning, he was 87 years old, the British newspaper Daily Mail reported, citing his statement friend, playwright, journalist and theater director Liam Rudden.
«It is with deep sadness that the family of Richard Franklin has asked me to share the news that he passed away early today (December 25 — ed.). Richard died peacefully in his sleep,» the newspaper quoted Rudden as saying in a statement posted on social media.
Franklin was born in 1936 in Great Britain. He is best known for his roles in Doctor Who, where he played Captain Mike Yates, as well as the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and the TV series Emmerdale Farm.
A number of British media outlets note that the actor was struggling with a long illness.
