Japanese tuning studio DAMD has prepared two new body kits for the Suzuki Jimny for the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show; they imitate the style of the legendary European hot rods. hatches Lancia Delta Integrale and Renault 5 Turbo, which is misleading, because the technical content of the frame SUV remains standard.
The Tokyo Motor Show is our first specialized exhibition in 2024; it will open its doors to visitors on January 12. Even earlier, on January 9, the CES consumer electronics exhibition will open in Las Vegas, where in recent years automakers have gotten into the habit of showing their high-tech new products, but the Tokyo Auto Show, in any case, is a larger-scale event in terms of automobile premieres; dozens of concepts from Japanese are expected at it manufacturers, local tuning studios will show their new products here, including the DAMD company, which has been operating since 1982 and specializes in the development of body kits.
The creation of cartoonish toy and parody models based on kei cars is a kind of national Japanese pastime and a separate large branch of the local tuning industry, the DAMD company is one of its leading players. The DAMD line already includes body kits for the Suzuki Jimny in the style of the Land Rover Defender and Mercedes-Benz G-Class, and for the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show the company has prepared two new masks for the Jimny — Little 5. and Little Δ.

The Little 5 body kit gives the Jimny a resemblance to the Renault 5 Turbo mid-engine road rally hatchback from the 1980s, this similarity is created by new angular bumpers, new headlights and a Renault 5-style grille between them, fake air intakes and exhaust vents on the widened rear fenders and a spoiler on the trunk lid. White OZ Racing alloy wheels in a classic rally style complete the look.
Little Δ Parts Kit. makes the Jimny similar to another rally legend of the 80s and early 90s, the all-wheel drive Lancia Delta Integrale hot hatch. There are the same bumpers and wheel arch extensions as in the Little 5 kit, but different Lancia-style headlights and a dashingly protruding spoiler at the rear, characteristic of the Delta Integrale. Additional similarity with the historical prototype is given by decorative stripes on the roof, hood and spoiler — many later Delta Integrale models had them.

It is curious that the Jimny, “dressed” in the Little 5. kit, has On the sidewalls there is an inscription “non turbo” — they say, I’m not a Renault 5 Turbo, but I’m just imitating it, I don’t have a turbo. In fact, the original Japanese Jimny, which belongs to kei cars, has a gasoline turbo engine with a volume of 658 “cubes” and a power of 64 hp, but the pictures show a plumper and longer Jimny Sierra, similar in technical characteristics to the export versions of the model, — as you know, it is equipped with a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a power of 102 hp, so there really is “no turbo.”
