MOSCOW, December 29 New sports facilities for the World Friendship Games and the BRICS Games are not needed, Russia has the most modern infrastructure, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko said in an interview.
“”In addition to the Games of the Future, which will be held in February in Kazan, we will have the BRICS Games, since Russia is chairing the BRICS next year – this is a standard format, it is closer to festival sports, rather youth sports, where they will take a large number of countries, primarily BRICS. It will be held in Kazan, and no new facilities are being created for either of these competitions, because we probably have the most modern infrastructure,” Chernyshenko said.
Games of the Future – new international competitions in 16 hybrid disciplines. Each of them combines the concept of phygital (physical+digital), that is, it combines classic sports and e-sports, or VR/AR technology. The sports program includes e-sports competitions, AR/VR, a robot tournament, cybathletics, drone racing and others.
The Deputy Chairman of the Government added that the country is creating infrastructure for mass sports, from 2020 to 2023, 1.9 thousand GTO grounds and 123 football fields with artificial turf were created, 40 “smart” sports facilities in 2022 and 162 in 2023.
“We are preparing specialists in the field of physical education and sports; since 2020, we have trained 56.5 thousand people, but the main thing is that we are creating new role models for young people, so that they have someone to look up to,” concluded the Deputy Prime Minister.
In 2024, Russia will host the BRICS Games and the Friendship Games. The first will be held in Kazan from June 12 to 23, the second is planned from September 15 to 29, 2024 in Moscow and Yekaterinburg.
