West Ham United will hold talks with David Moyes over a new contract in January.
A 2.5-year deal is expected to be offered and signed, which will extend Moyes' stay until June 2026.
Sources say it has not yet been decided whether the 60-year-old Scot will agree to stay, but the intention is to negotiate a new contract and all parties are happy with the timing.
However, the key issue for Moyes is understood to remain the lack of support he received from some West Ham fans who were critical of him.
West Ham initially intended to wait until the end of the season to reconsider Moyes' position, as they usually do with their managers. There have even been serious suggestions within the club that the board wants to make changes.
It remains to be seen whether Moyes can agree terms with the club, but there are signs that he wants to stay.
Despite the uncertainty over his future, Moyes has maintained a good relationship with the club's board, who remain calm about his future.
If a new deal is signed, it would be a significant turnaround for Moyes, who was close to being sacked last season and might have left in the summer if he had not won the Europa Conference League. , the club's first trophy in 43 years and access to the Europa League.
Moyes likely would have lost his job if West Ham had lost to Fulham last April, but instead he was given a reprieve with a 1-0 win. Slaven Bilic was due to return to the club.
Moyes returned to West Ham four years ago this week, helped them avoid relegation and has since taken them to Europe for three seasons in a row.< /p>< However, he has been under pressure for over a year now from fans criticizing his playing style and whether he is getting enough from a talented team. Liverpool's recent exit from the League Cup has caused further unrest.
Moyes can rightly point to not only the trophy success and stay in Europe, but also the fact that West Ham have climbed to sixth place in the Premier League.
West Ham ended the year with victories over Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United. This is the first time West Ham have beaten Tottenham and Arsenal away in the same league season since 1993-94.
Although last summer between Moyes and the club's new technical director Tim Tensions arose with Steidten. it's settled. The players acquired — Mohamed Qudus, Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse in particular — performed well after the sale of Declan Rice for £105 million.
When asked about his contract after the win over Arsenal with 2-0 on Thursday, a relaxed Moyes said: “We have plenty of time to talk about it. We're in no hurry. We can do this when we are ready. I'm enjoying my time.»
Moyes previously suggested that speculation over his future could upset his team.
