Team GB at the Paris Olympics: Which British athletes should you watch at the 2024 Games?

The first athletes to represent Great Britain at next year's Paris Olympics have been announced.

Team GB has submitted the majority of its sailors for the 2024 Games, including athletes also selected from rock climbing, canoe slalom and triathlon.

Team GB includes athletes from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (although athletes from the provinces may instead represent the Republic of Ireland).

Team GB have performed superbly at the last four Games, finishing fourth in the medal table at Beijing 2008, third at London 2012, second at Rio 2016, then fourth at Tokyo 2020.

James Peters and Finn Sterritt: 49er (men's skiffs)
Peters, who was nominated for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award in 2008, gave up sailing after being paired with Sterritt < stronghave been selected by future gold medalists Dylan Fletcher and Stuart Bithell for the GB selection in Tokyo. but he is back and may have something to prove in Paris. Freya Black and Saskia Tidy: 49erFX (women's boat)

Having learned to windsurf with her mother Penny, a two-time Olympic champion, Wilson won her first world title aged just 12 in the U15 category. She won bronze at the 2023 World Championships and silver at the test event in Marseille, which will host the Paris 2024 sailing competition.

Sam Sills: iQFOiL (men's windsurfing)

This time, Beckett, the 2021 European champion who studied marine engineering at the University of Southampton, will be looking to break Australia's three-Games winning streak in her class.

Triathlon

Alex Lee
Former Brownlee Brothers training colleague, Yee won silver in the individual competition and gold in the mixed relay at Tokyo 2020. After receiving an MBE in 2022, Lee booked his place at the 2024 Games by winning the test event in 2023.
