Ms Giuffre's lawyer asked Epstein a series of questions about Prince Andrew's alleged relationship with his client
Jeffrey Epstein, court documents show refused to answer questions about whether he tried to blackmail the Duke of York after an alleged sexual encounter with Virginia Giuffre.
The financier and convicted sex offender refused to answer almost every question asked of him because he took a fifth during the interview affidavit in Ms Giuffre's civil suit against Ghislaine Maxwell, the disgraced British socialite.
< p>He was asked whether he and Maxwell instructed Ms Giuffre to have sex with Prince Andrew in 2001 and whether information collected as part of the lawsuit could «potentially impact the reputation» of the Duke.
Prince Andrew left from public life following the scandal caused by his friendship with Epstein, and paid millions to settle a civil sexual assault case with Ms Giuffre, a woman he claimed he had never met.
He was expelled. from the current monarchy and no longer uses his HRH style after Ms Giuffre, who was trafficked by Epstein, accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17.
The Duke has categorically denied any — offenses.

The Epstein interview transcript was released as part of the final batch of documents to be released as part of Ms Giuffre's civil suit against Maxwell in 2015.

Epstein was also asked what he knew about Andrew's «sexual preferences» and whether Ms Giuffre «revealed the specific behavior that Prince Andrew required before sexual intercourse» .

Later in the interview, Epstein was asked: “As far as you know, Prince Andrew had sex with Virginia on several occasions, is that correct?”
Before ending the questioning, Cassell said: “This trial could affect Prince Andrew's reputation, right?”
Epstein refused to answer questions.
The former finance boss was found dead in his cell at a federal prison in Manhattan, New York, in August 2019. while he awaited trial on sex trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.
Maxwell has been incarcerated since July 2020, despite her lawyer's attempts to get her released on bail.
She was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in the Southern District of New York in June 2022.
The socialite announced her desire to appeal shortly after the verdict, with her lawyers arguing that the victims' memories were «faded, distorted and motivated.»< /p> p>
Her appeal is scheduled for November next year.
