New generation Toyota Camry: sedan presented for Europe

In the Old World, the four-door, of course, will only be a hybrid. Sales there will start in the second quarter of this year.

The premiere of the new Toyota Camry took place in November 2023: first they showed the version for North America, and just a few days later the sedan intended for China was revealed. Now the fresh four-door is presented in European specification. By the way, the Camry is not in demand in the Old World — and even though it is still sold in the region as a whole, it was, for example, again excluded from the model range of some Western European countries (in particular, Germany and France), where the sedan returned in 2019- m after an almost 15-year break.

Let us remind you that Toyota itself officially announced the four-door as a new generation, although in fact it is a deep restyling of the previous Camry on the GA-K platform. In terms of design, the “old-world” sedan repeated the American version (the Chinese model has a slightly different appearance and its own interior), but there are still some features: for example, compact foglights appeared in the front bumper.

As in the States, in Europe the Toyota Camry will be available exclusively as a HEV hybrid, that is, without the possibility of recharging from the mains. The installation is still based on a 2.5 naturally aspirated petrol engine, but the total output has increased — 231 hp. versus 218 hp from the previous “old world” hybrid. All-wheel drive remained the prerogative of the American sedan. It is stated that the European new Camry will reach the first “hundred” in 7.9 seconds, while the previous generation hybrid four-door will complete this exercise in 8.3 seconds.

The list of standard equipment for the Euro version includes a 7-inch display in the dashboard (for an additional fee, a virtual dashboard is available 12.3 inches), a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging for a smartphone and a set of Toyota Safety Sense safety systems (adaptive cruise control, auto braking systems, lane keeping, etc.).

European dealers are expected to open orders for the new Toyota Camry in the second quarter of this year, prices still No. In Spain, for example, the previous generation hybrid sedan today costs from 44,000 euros.
