MOSCOW, January 11, Vasily Bogdanov. Agent Paulo Barbosa, Commenting on the appointment of the Portuguese Joaquim Pinto to the position of head of the selection department of the Moscow football club Spartak, he noted that the status of a former scout of Lisbon Benfica speaks volumes.
Pinto will take up his new position on January 15th. The 42-year-old specialist previously worked for 10 years in the Benfica system, where he was a senior scout. He will become an assistant to the Portuguese Tomas Amaral, who took over as sporting director of the Red-Whites on January 1.
“”To be honest, this is the first time I've heard about him, but the very fact that he worked at Benfica speaks volumes. There is a very interesting team there, the scouting department of the Portuguese club is known for its quality throughout Europe. Since the new sporting director has decided to bring up this specialist means he sees potential in him. I think this is a direct strengthening of Spartak’s scouting service in several directions – Latin America, Africa and, of course, Europe. Although, of course, they will need to focus on Russia, because the future the club is here after all,” said Barbosa.
