Mitsubishi Xforce crossover to replace the ASX: now with left-hand drive, there are more versions

The new compact SUV is presented in Vietnam, and there it has more trim levels than in its production homeland. Later the model will reach other countries.

The full premiere of the serial crossover Mitsubishi Xforce took place in August last year in Indonesia, only the production of the new product has been established there, and this country has become the debut market for the SUV. However, the brand initially announced that the SUV would be global: it would appear in other countries of Southeast Asia, as well as in the Middle East, Latin America and Africa. Let us remind you that this cross will gradually displace the old ASX from the global Mitsubishi range (we do not take into account the European “new” ASX, since it is a clone of the Renault Captur). And now the left-hand drive version is presented — this Xforce debuted in Vietnam, the local division of the company announced prices and configurations, although deliveries from the Indonesian plant will start only in the spring.

The new SUV is slightly larger than the global ASX, but is inferior to it in wheelbase size. The length of the Mitsubishi Xforce is 4390 mm, width – 1810 mm, height – 1660 mm, distance between the axles – 2650 mm (ASX indicator – 2670 mm). The passport ground clearance of the cheapest Vietnamese cross is 219 mm (it has 17-inch wheels), for other versions it is 222 mm (they “stand” on 18-inch wheels).

In Vietnam, Xforce is offered in four trim levels, while in Indonesia there are now only two versions: the export five-door has been added with “intermediate” options. The equipment list of the basic Vietnamese crossover (GLX trim level) includes air conditioning, a 4.2-inch screen in the instrument panel, a multimedia system with an 8-inch touchscreen, four airbags, an engine start button and a rear view camera.

The next oldest version of the Exceed gets a leather steering wheel and dual-zone climate control. Mitsubishi Xforce Premium also includes leather upholstery, wireless charging for a smartphone, an 8-inch display in the dashboard, multimedia with a 12.3-inch diagonal screen, six airbags, cruise control and a blind spot monitoring system. Finally, the top-end Ultimate variant also has a power tailgate and adaptive cruise.

One engine – 1.5 naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol with a power of 105 hp. (141 Nm), it is combined only with a CVT. Mitsubishi Xforce comes exclusively with front-wheel drive, and the model has a system for selecting driving modes.

The price list is not yet complete — the price of the maximum configuration will be announced later. Now for Xforce in Vietnam they are asking 620 million — 699 million dong, which is equivalent to approximately 2.3 million — 2.6 million rubles at the current exchange rate. For comparison, the pre-reform Kia Seltos now costs from 604 million dong (about 2.2 million rubles), Toyota Yaris Cross – from 650 million dong (2.4 million rubles). Mitsubishi ASX is not sold in Vietnam.
