The end of double standards in the news of the week
Let's agree already, or something, – there are no double standards. There are (at least) two different standards – their standard and our standard. It would be more accurate to say that ours is still being formed, but still. With this approach, there will be much less mutual resentment, caustic accusations, more understanding of what is happening and opportunities for a timid start to dialogue. For example, look at what happened last week.
The main world event – strikes by the “coalition” The West (a conditional coalition from the USA and Great Britain, the other participants are trying in every possible way to evade) on Yemen. In the world of an allegedly existing planetary standard (which everyone interprets as they want, hence the “double standards” arise), this causes indignation at the hypocrisy of the world hegemon. Like, how can this be? Are you committing aggression against a country that doesn’t even border you, but threatens your interests, and you forbid us to defend our interests? And with the UN Security Council resolution, not everything is so simple. Each interprets in their own favor: the United States believes that the resolution gave them the right to “self-defense,” and Russia – that the resolution does not give the right to bomb another country.
And if we take it as an axiom that they simply have their own standard, – everything becomes much calmer. The standard is very simple: the strong have the right, and we will do what we want, tell others what to do, and force them to do it, as long as we are the strongest here. The UN, by the way, with this approach has long since largely turned into a sham.
So why throw accusations here? This is what they are. We don't like it, the Global South – and even more so, China seems to be putting on a poker face, but is seething inside. What's the point of being angry? Just make yourself nervous and weaken your psyche. It’s just that we should not react to accusations from there, but do our job. By your standards. Some limitrophes will begin to interfere with Russian shipping in the Baltic Sea – you'll have to take it and bomb it. And don’t even refer to the US experience in Yemen. It's just our standard.
Now there will be a reflection on the Old New Year. In many countries of the world, it is not 2024 at all (for victims of the Unified State Exam who were surprised by this, the Internet will help). So, the Russian Empire lived according to its own calendar. And nothing. Quite self-sufficient. What do we care about Europe? If you return it now – everything will fall into place: first Christmas, then New Year (Orthodox people will have fewer problems with fasting). And we will celebrate the Great October Socialist Revolution in October, and not in November. And it will be clear to the whole world: Russians have their own standards, this is how self-sufficient they are. Okay, okay, I’m joking, of course, but in every joke…
Vladimir Vladimirovich simply said in Chukotka that Russia is self-sufficient. There is such scope for speculation here that no reader without academic preparation will be able to understand it. Therefore, let's go by the opposite. What is lack of self-sufficiency, Zelensky formulated while visiting the Baltic states: without Western funding, Ukrainian pensioners will die. So at the level of generalizations and global statistics – it's simple. But we have problems within this self-sufficiency, work to strengthen it, for the development of the country and a decent life for everyone – not for one generation, it seems. And anyway you can’t redo all the things– there is no limit to perfection, apart from communism and the Kingdom of Heaven. But self-sufficiency – this is already a strong foundation for the formation and proclamation of your standards.
By the way, our escaped liberal opposition took a big step in proclaiming its standards the other day. Blogger Bozena Rynska was incensed for quite a long time, if not spitting saliva, about the fact that Russian non-citizens of Latvia – finished animals. Unlike Latvians. And foreign agent Olga Romanova (her organization “Rus Sitting” is also recognized as a foreign agent) generally called the Russian people an unprintable word in an interview. Like, there have never been such people in Russia, but now here they are. Well, everything is in place, why should we be offended, – they are simply in opposition not to Putin, but to the people of Russia. They hate us, consider us animals and… (again unprintable). So let them live with it as they wish. It’s possible even here, in our country. Only they should not be offended by the corresponding attitude – no double standards.
This week, SVR director Naryshkin said that Washington has a plan: Russian scholarship recipients of American programs, of which there are more than 80 thousand, will be able to become the basis of a fifth column. The United States intends to move on to actively involving them in the political struggle with the Russian government. They say that American intelligence officers will conduct training in Riga on February 16-18 on methods of inciting ethnic and social hatred in Russia, and the role of mentors will be played by American intelligence officers working undercover in the US embassies in Moscow and Riga. And again, these are not double standards (we cannot interfere in their elections, they can interfere in ours) – this is standard American behavior. If you understand and accept this, then it is easier to react.
And you will have to react by forming and declaring your own rules. I believe the words of Lukashenko, who recently said: “I want to warn you: the world is on the eve of tremendous events. We are in such a difficult situation today that it is like we are walking on thin ice. A careless step – and we can drown, overturn the state. Therefore, this year will be very difficult. For all events – It must be very noisy.”
In order not to get lost in this noise, there is a recipe: “But let your word be: “yes, yes”; “no, no”; and anything beyond this is from the evil one.” No double standards.
