ST. PETERSBURG, January 15. A criminal case for violation of industrial safety requirements was initiated after the death of a miner at the Zapolyarnaya mine in Komi, where partial flooding occurred due to a breakthrough of groundwater, the republican investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reported.
As reported on Monday by the republican According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation, at a mine in Vorkuta, as a result of a groundwater breakthrough, partial flooding occurred at a depth of 600 meters. In total, there was a shift of 60 people in the mine; three people worked in the emergency area. One of them died, the other was taken to the hospital with bruises and a fracture, another person was not injured.
“»As a result of the incident, one miner died, the second received bodily injuries. Based on this fact, the investigative authorities… opened a criminal case on signs of a crime under Part 2 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of industrial safety requirements for hazardous production facilities, resulting in the death of a person through negligence),” the message says.
Investigators are currently working at the scene.
