The starting gun for the 2024 presidential campaign was officially fired following the results of the Iowa caucuses on Tuesday.

National polls are predicting a runoff between Donald Trump and Joe Biden in a presidential race that could be one of the most historic in the nation's history.

March 4.
The date of Trump's trial in a Washington federal case accusing the former president of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
March 5 is Super Tuesday
The date when 15 states will hold primaries and caucuses, including Texas and California. This could be a defining moment in the Republican primary.
March 12
Michigan, among seven other states, holds primaries and caucuses.
March 19
Primaries in four more states, including Florida and Illinois.

The Safe Harbor deadline is when states must settle any disputes over who will be sent to the Electoral College, the body that officially compiles the votes to determine the outcome of an election.
December 16
Electors meet in their state capitals, to officially cast their votes for the Electoral College.

The formal counting of Electoral College votes occurs during a joint session of Congress.
In the 2020 Census, Texas received two electoral votes, while Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina and Oregon each received one.
California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia each lost one.
This will be the first formal vote count on Jan. 6 since the 2021 attack on the Capitol.
Jan. 20 is Inauguration Day
The president-elect will be brought to oath.
