AVTOVAZ last year began the process of transferring production of the “workhorse” Russian brand from the Tolyatti plant to the plant in Izhevsk. Production starts in the spring.
The history of the Lada Largus began in 2012: then the first copies rolled off the assembly line of the AVTOVAZ plant located in Tolyatti. Let us remind you that the donor for this model is the first generation Dacia Logan MCV. The car of the Russian brand underwent restyling in 2021. However, already in the spring of 2021, serial production of Largus was suspended due to a shortage of components.
True, over the past time, Lada “workhorses” have returned to the assembly line several more times. So, in the summer of 2022, the plant produced a batch of 1.8 thousand copies, and in the summer of last year another 650 Largus rolled off the assembly line in various modifications. At the same time, the specified quantity also included vehicle kits for the pilot batch of the all-electric version of the model, which received its own name — e-Largus.

Last year, AVTOVAZ management decided to move the production of Lada Largus to the plant in Izhevsk. The process will be completed in the next quarter. The production of cars at the new location is scheduled for May 2024. At the same time, mass production of e-Largus station wagons and vans will begin. Let us remind you that in mid-December last year, production of a pilot batch of “green” cars began at this site; it numbers 30 copies.

Now the planned production volume of Largus by the end of this year has become known: as Interfax reports with reference to the head of Udmurtia Alexander Brechalov, in just the specified period the Izhevsk plant of the AVTOVAZ company intends to release up to 50 thousand copies of the model. The indicated quantity includes both station wagons and vans; both versions with a traditional internal combustion engine and a fully electric version.

Recall that the Lada Largus range includes four-cylinder engines with a volume of 1.6 liters: the “junior” eight-valve the output is 90 hp, for the sixteen-valve engine it is 106 hp. They are paired with a non-alternative five-speed manual transmission. In the first case, Largus needs 14.3 seconds to accelerate from zero to “hundreds”, in the second – 13.1 seconds.
The Lada e-Largus prototype was presented at the end of 2022. According to the latest official data, the “green” Largus was equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, its rated power is 50 kW, short-term peak power is 120 kW. The lithium-ion battery is divided into two modules (one in the engine compartment, the second under the floor of the body, where the gas tank is in “regular” cars). So far, the manufacturer has not disclosed the capacity of the battery pack and the power reserve of the production version. However, it is already known that the e-Largus accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than ten seconds.
Last week it became known that AVTOVAZ is preparing to launch another brand and announces new versions of Lada models. The latter, in particular, includes Vesta, which is planned to be equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, which is paired with an automatic transmission. The manufacturer has also planned the release of the Lada Niva Sport version for this year.
