The Tank brand, owned by the Chinese company Great Wall, will bring to market a frame SUV with the index 330 this coming spring — this is nothing more than as a top version of the already well-known Tank 300 in Russia.
The Tank brand entered the Russian market in February last year, the debut model was a mid-size frame SUV with an index of 300, it is equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol “tubular four” (220 hp, 380 Nm) paired with an 8-speed hydromechanical “ automatically.» The all-wheel drive system is differential-free: power is transferred to the front wheels by a rigidly locked clutch in the Adventure/Premium versions and with automatic connection at the command of the electronics in the City Adventure/City Premium versions. All versions are equipped with a reduction gear in the transfer case and a rear cross-axle differential lock; the Premium and City Premium versions additionally have a front cross-axle differential lock. We studied the Tank 300's off-road capabilities in detail last winter during a test drive.
In Russia, the Tank 300 became a hit: in 2023, its sales, according to AEB, amounted to 7,226 units; in the frame SUV segment, it was second only to the domestic UAZ Patriot, which sold 11,853 units. In China, the Tank 300 is much more popular, and its success surprised even the management of Great Wall. Last spring, Great Wall decided to crowdfund the potential demand for the Tank 300 with a powerful V6 engine from the older Tank 500 SUV and received a thousand prepaid applications in just six seconds. Of course, the project of the powerful Tank 300 was immediately given the green light, the production version received the index 330, it will hit the market next spring, and its main technical characteristics surfaced this week in the electronic database of the Chinese Ministry of Industry.
On the Tank 330, the maximum output of the 3.0-liter V6 biturbo petrol engine will be 360 hp. and 500 Nm. The gearbox is a 9-speed hydromechanical “automatic”. All-wheel drive is the same as in the Tank 300 City versions, that is, with a clutch operating in automatic mode, but on the Tank 330 this clutch can be forcibly locked and released, in the latter case it will be possible to drive in rear-wheel drive to save fuel.< br />
The Tank 330 also sports reinforced bumpers (the front one with a built-in guard), sill and underbody protection, and the 18-inch wheels are equipped with beadlocks. Compared to the Tank 300, the approach angle has been increased from 33 to 36 degrees, the departure angle has been increased from 34 to 37 degrees, and the fording depth has been increased from 700 to 900 mm. Two humps on the hood, growths on the front of the roof and a wing on the rear of the roof are free quotes from the Mercedes G-Class in the Brabus treatment; the functional purpose of these body kit elements is questionable.
It is expected that the minimum price of Tank 330 in China will be about 350,000 yuan (4.25 million rubles). In Russia, the basic Tank 300 Adventure now costs from 4,099,000 rubles, the most expensive in the range, the Tank 300 City Premium, starts from 4,699,000 rubles, and the Tank 330, if it gets to our country, which we have little doubt, will probably be cost at least 6 million rubles.
