MOSCOW, January 17 The magistrate of the Tagansky district of Moscow imposed a fine of more than 30 million rubles on DigitalOcean for operating in Russia without representation, the press service of the court reported .
DigitalOcean is an American provider providing cloud storage services.
“»DigitalOcean, LLC was found guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 2 of Article 13.49 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. A punishment was imposed in the form of an administrative fine in the amount of 30 million 810 thousand 55 rubles,» said the agency's interlocutor.
Earlier in the morning, the court imposed fines on two more companies for a similar offense — more than 200 million to the Amazon subsidiary, which provides cloud database storage services, and 117 million to the hosting service Hetnez online gmb.
In addition, fines of 6 million were imposed on Bluehost, Kamatera Inc, Ionos Inc, Network solution, DreamHost LLC, GoDaddy.com, WPEngine Inc and HostGator.com.
