Honda showed a refreshed Civic for the USA and announced a new Acura crossover

The Japanese manufacturer summed up the results of last year in the American market and spoke about plans for its brands for the current year.

< p>The American office of Honda spoke about the results for 2023. The Japanese company sold a total of 1.3 million cars of its brands in the States, which is 33% more than in 2022. Honda explained the increase by a third by saying that “production has stabilized and logistics problems have eased.” The manufacturer also said that at the end of last year, the best-selling hybrid car in the United States was the Honda CR-V Hybrid; it sold 197.3 thousand units across the country.

In the “regular” division it is assumed that in 2024 sales of Honda brand cars will amount to about 1.3 million units, and Acura models will have more approximately 150 thousand units. In this case, the total figure will be approximately 10-12% higher than the result for 2023.

The company said that a completely new Acura compact crossover will debut at the end of this year. It is known that in the brand hierarchy it will take the place of the entry-level model along with Integra. Details about this car will appear later, so far the company has not even declassified its name.

The company also recalled that Acura dealers will begin accepting orders for the all-electric ZDX SUV in February. The RDX and MDX crossovers will receive a number of updates this year. By the way, MDX is the brand’s best-selling model in the United States based on the results of 2023. It will be refreshed due to changes in appearance, a premium Bang and Olufsen audio system, improved software for the infotainment system, as well as a different touchscreen and a redesigned center console.

The American Honda model line will also receive an update in 2024. So, in the coming months it will be replenished with the all-electric Prologue crossover and the CR-V fuel cell SUV (FCEV). In addition, the manufacturer refreshed the Odyssey for the new model year. Honda also intends to update the local Civic and return it to a hybrid version.

As part of the announcement, Honda released one image of the 2025 Civic Hybrid. It is known that both the sedan and the hatchback will have such a filling. The refreshed Civic will receive a number of changes in appearance: the design of the radiator grille will be changed, as well as a massive air intake integrated into the lower part of the front bumper. The models also promised “improvements in technology”; details about the hybrid installation of the model for the American market will appear later. The Civic Hybrid will reach local dealers in the summer of 2024.

Recall that the Honda Civic e hybrid: HEV for the European market was introduced in the spring of 2022. Its installation includes a 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle gasoline engine with direct injection, working in tandem with two electric motors (one rotates the front wheels, the second is coupled to the internal combustion engine).
