In Tatarstan, trains are delayed due to heavy snowfall

KAZAN, January 21 Ten trains are delayed on the Gorky Railway in Tatarstan due to difficult conditions after heavy snowfall, the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office reported.

“Due to difficult weather conditions after heavy snowfall in the Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov regions, the Republics of Tatarstan and Udmurtia, delays in the movement of commuter and passenger trains are possible,” the department clarified.

Train crews maintain comfortable conditions in the carriages temperature regime. Passengers on trains running more than four hours behind schedule were provided with additional food.

Workers of the Gorky Railway clear snow from transport infrastructure facilities. The Nizhny Novgorod, Kirov, Tatarstan and Udmurt transport prosecutor's offices monitor compliance with the rights of passengers, the department noted. If there are grounds, response measures will be taken.

The situation is under the control of the Volga Transport Prosecutor's Office.

As a representative of the Gorky Railway clarified, in particular, train No. 111 Krugloe Pole — Moscow was delayed by 8.5 hours, train No. 115 Tomsk — Adler was delayed by 4.5 hours, train No. 118 Moscow — Novokuznetsk was delayed by one hour and 42 minutes, a little more less than an hour — No. 60 Moscow — Surgut.
At the Gorky Railway, according to the agency's interlocutor, an operational headquarters was created to coordinate work to eliminate the consequences of snowfall. In the regions, teams are being built up to deal with snow. In the Kazan region of the State Railway today there are ten snow removal machines, six double-track snow plows, and a self-propelled snow removal train. Since January 16, the State Railways has recruited over 3.7 thousand people to clear snow within the Kazan region.
In the region, passenger platforms, pedestrian bridges and tunnels are being intensively cleared of snow and ice. Workers of the State Railways, together with contractors, carry out daily cleaning of the territory of stations and stations from ice, sprinkle the platforms with sand and reagents.
