The German company is preparing a new station wagon that will replace the A6 Avant model. Test samples have already been captured by spy photographers, thanks to which we have the opportunity to imagine what the new product will look like.
The A7 model dates back to 2010, when the first generation of the car premiered. Today, the second generation is on the assembly line, which was demonstrated in the fall of 2017. In both generations, the car is offered with a single body — a five-door liftback (not counting the specific long-wheelbase A7L sedan, introduced in 2021 for the Chinese market). However, in the future the situation will change: the German brand is changing the naming system, as a result of which even numbers will go to all-electric models, while traditional models will receive odd numbers. Thus, the A7 name will soon be given to models currently presented as A6. The first of this family was a station wagon, the renderings of which are presented in this article.

The samples captured in spy photographs have the proportions familiar to the brand, but the body style will change. The front part is made in the company's new style, which we have already seen on test samples of the future A5. Here the headlights and grille are similar in shape, except that the latter is made significantly larger in height. On the side there are the same smooth protrusions above the wheel arches and similar door handles, while the rear part is distinguished by the shape of the lights with a kind of “fangs” at the edges. Judging by the spy photos, they have built-in brake lights (as shown in one of the renders). What distinguishes the new model from the current model is an LED strip across the entire width of the trunk lid. By the way, the future Audi Q3 crossover, renders of which we made earlier, will receive similar rear optics.

There is no reliable information about the technical part yet; it is quite possible that the new product will, to one degree or another, borrow engines from the current A6. Its engine range includes turbocharged petrol and diesel engines, as well as hybrid modifications. In addition, there are powerful versions of S6 and RS6, the fate of which in the future generation is also unknown.

Given the visual degree of readiness of the car in spy photos, the premiere of the new Audi A7 can be expected during this year.
Meanwhile, Audi decided to continue producing cars with internal combustion engines due to problems with demand for electric cars.
