General Motors Corporation introduced the new flagship Cadillac model back in 2022, but only recently the assembly of the first customer cars began. According to rumors, GM will make no more than 150 copies of the Cadillac Celestiq per year. Price — from $340,000 to infinity.
Celestiq is another attempt by GM to return the Cadillac brand to the level of Rolls-Royce and Bentley, that is, to the upper echelon of the car market with its sky-high prices. The Cadillac Celestiq premiered in October 2022, but detailed specifications have not yet been released, the Celestiq cannot be ordered on the Cadillac consumer website, but VIP customers have made individual reservations through select dealers and are now patiently waiting for delivery to begin.

At the end of last week, Cadillac CEO John Roth said at a briefing with representatives of the American media that assembly of the Celestiq at the GM Global Technical Center in Warren (USA, Michigan) had already begun. The technical center in Warren is not a factory, but a large engineering campus, where it is nevertheless possible to manufacture cars manually in piece quantities — the American corporation invested $81 million in the Celestiq assembly shop.
It has not been officially announced when deliveries of the Cadillac Celestiq will begin — the first assembled copies will likely be subjected to rigorous testing and only then will they reach customers. According to informed sources of GM Authority magazine, GM is going to produce from 100 to 150 copies of the Celestiq per year and sell them around the world, that is, the likelihood of seeing the new Cadillac flagship on the roads will be very low.
The minimum price of $340,000 is approximate, the real one is much higher, because at the finishing level, each Celestiq is customized for a specific customer, and the luxury decor of a car, as is known, can cost more than the car itself. The 115 parts for the Celestiq are made using various models of 3D printers and then hand-finished to aesthetic perfection.
< p>In technical terms, the Celestiq is a large (more than 5 m long) electric all-wheel drive liftback with a four-seater cabin dotted with monitors for entertainment. The 55-inch multi-mode display on the front panel has a mode of emphatically old-fashioned graphics, like Cadillacs of the 70s. 450 LEDs are responsible for the performance of unique lighting scores in the cabin, and an AKG Studio audio system with 38 loudspeakers is responsible for the music.
The Cadillac Celestiq is based on the most advanced version of GM's modular Ultium platform, the maximum output of the dual-motor electric power plant is 608 hp. and 867 Nm, the liftback accelerates to 60 mph (96.56 km/h) in 3.8 seconds. The battery capacity is 111 kWh, the estimated range on a single charge is 300 miles (483 km) according to the EPA cycle. Standard equipment includes a fully controlled chassis, adaptive air suspension and Ultra Cruise autopilot — although the latter will be available as an update later this year, all the necessary equipment for its operation is on board by default.
