The used car market is experiencing a real boom these days. But finding a good option in this troubled water with a clear history and in decent technical condition is quite a challenge. But if there is a request for a service, there will be an offer.
The Pango Cars project is still in its infancy: the official launch of a system of services for the sale of used cars was announced quite recently, in August 2023. The reason is obvious: along with the leading automobile brands, services for certification and civilized sale of used cars also left Russia. For example, Land Rover Selected, Toyota Certified and Porsche Approved. But buying a used car always involves some risk of running into a seemingly decent car, but in reality it’s almost a “killed” car with a low mileage. The Pango Cars federal automotive ecosystem, which includes the sale of certified used cars under the Pango Select program and other related services, is designed to provide buyers of used cars with the same level of service as in the case of the sale of new cars by official dealers.
Cars of any make and model up to 20 years old and with a mileage of no more than 250 thousand km can participate in the Pango Select program — of course, except for those that have deformations of the load-bearing elements and violations of the body geometry. As part of the program, cars undergo a strict pre-selection, which includes both a legal check and diagnostics, during which specialists will check each car at 129 points and carry out pre-sale service.
The advantages of buying cars through Pango Cars compared to buying from hand to hand don’t end there. Firstly, for each certified car a post-warranty support certificate is issued for a period of one year or until the mileage reaches 20 thousand km from the date of purchase, covering key components and assemblies. Secondly, the buyer of Pango Cars can take advantage of the financial support of the largest Russian banks and get a loan for the purchase on very favorable terms, including buying a car in installments at zero percent.
Today, the Pango Cars federal automotive ecosystem includes 70 official dealership centers in 22 Russian cities selling cars of various brands. During the fall of 2023, they certified and offered customers over 10,700 used cars. And work on forming a dealer network will continue: during 2024, the number of Pango dealer centers should increase to 300, and the geography will expand significantly. Against this background, the launch of another element of the Pango system is very important — an auction for dealer centers scattered throughout Russia.
The new service will allow Pango Cars dealers to update the stock of used cars from different regions.
The idea of creating an auction with the opportunity to sell and buy used cars between legal entities appeared many years ago. Today, thanks to the decision to soon abolish double taxation, it is the right time for the development of this area. Now a dealer from, say, Krasnodar, where the cost of a car is higher than the market price in Russia, can buy a car from Moscow at the best price. Or, for example, it will be possible to buy a model that is not the most in demand from Kazan and send it to Chelyabinsk, where there will be high demand for it. Well, the immediate plans include the launch of another element of the ecosystem, Pango Mobility, which will allow dealerships to rent out used cars, both short-term (for example, to issue them to car service clients as replacement ones) and medium-term.
If everything goes according to plan, then thanks to services like Pango, we will be more protected from buying cars with a frankly dark past. And this is certainly good, given the gradual movement of the car from the category of a means of transportation to the category of luxury.
