MOSCOW, January 28 The Federal Tax Service should begin checking the VIP coach Inna Tliashinova, who was attacked at her seminar against Izvestia journalist Natalia Grafchikova, wrote the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Alexander Khinshtein, in his Telegram channel.
On Saturday evening, the publication reported that its correspondent and cameraman were attacked at Tliashinova's seminar. Grafchikova reported that the film crew, when they got to the event, introduced themselves as Izvestia journalists. A criminal case was opened regarding obstruction of the legitimate professional activities of journalists due to an attack on an Izvestia journalist and a cameraman in the Moscow region, the State Investigative Directorate of Russia for the Moscow Region reported later in the Telegram channel.
“While the Investigative Committee is conducting a pre-investigation check on information about the attack on the Izvestia journalist, if I were the Federal Tax Service, I would have already started my own, because if blogger Inna Tliashinova is so unwilling to appear before the tax authorities, then she has something to hide,” Khinshtein wrote.
Grafchikova, whose words were quoted by the publication, began filming on her phone because the operator’s camera fogged up. At that moment, the publication noted, security guards ran up to the correspondent and threw her to the floor, the cameraman was “attacked” by two more, the journalist was “literally thrown out the door in her socks, and the cameraman’s camera was broken and the flash drive was taken away.” On the street, as the publication wrote, the correspondent was attacked by a security guard and two of Tliashinova’s assistants: one of the men began to insult the journalist, took away her phone, and then “completely began to strangle her.” The publication later reported that Grafchikova received multiple bruises during the attack; she was also suspected of having a concussion and a closed craniocerebral injury.
According to Izvestia, the RF Investigative Committee began a pre-investigation check. Law enforcement officials have no comment yet.
