The Investigative Committee opened a case after the collapse of part of a house in Rostov-on-Don

ROSTOV-ON-DON, January 28 Investigators opened a criminal case under the article “Negligence” after the collapse of part of a residential building in Rostov-on-Don. on-Don, said a representative of the Russian Investigative Committee's department for the region.

"Based on the results of a procedural check, a criminal case was opened regarding the collapse of the wall of a residential building on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Negligent” ;),” he said.

A representative of the department added that in 2020 the apartment building was declared unsafe and subject to demolition.

Now investigators are conducting an additional inspection of the scene. In addition, they are interrogating the residents of the house and administration employees. Experts are studying the title and technical documentation of the building.

On Saturday evening, a partial collapse of the wall of the first entrance of a five-story residential building on Narimanov Street, 72/3 occurred. Rescuers evacuated 95 people. On Sunday morning, the first entrance to the house completely collapsed, no one was injured.
