Links that open on request in the first lines of a search engine can be an element of social phishing — companies collect data using these technologies, which they then use for aggressive marketing, Arseny Shcheltsin, general director of the Digital Platforms ANO, told the Prime agency.
On such resources, authorization usually takes place automatically through social networks, and the personal data declared there ends up in the databases with the help of which companies, for example, car dealers or developers, look for clients. Therefore, you should be prepared for calls and messages with “advantageous offers”. Fraudsters may also become more active.
To protect yourself from social phishing, it is important to set privacy settings on social networks, not log into other sites through your accounts, and also install reliable anti-virus and anti-phishing software, advises Shcheltsin.
