    The Bryansk court sentenced the arsonist of the Russian Railways relay cabinet

    MOSCOW, January 30The Bryansk regional court sentenced Dmitry Prokhorenko, accused of treason and arson of a Russian Railways relay cabinet, to 13 years in prison, the joint press service of the courts of general jurisdiction of the Bryansk region reported.
    “”On January thirtieth, the Bryansk Regional Court sentenced Dmitry Prokhorenko, who was found guilty of high treason (Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and arson aimed at destroying or damaging a transport infrastructure facility in order to undermine the economic security and defense capability of the Russian Federation ( Part 1 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation),” the message says.

    It is noted that Prokhorenko gave the Ukrainian mercenaries information about the activities of the military unit, known to him due to his duty. Subsequently, on his own initiative and on instructions from the Ukrainian side, he periodically transmitted information he collected about the location and activities of units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the Bryansk region.
    “Also, Prokhorenko, acting on instructions from the enemy and guided by the instructions given to him, set fire to a relay cabinet belonging to a branch of Russian Railways, as a result of which the movement of trains was temporarily limited,” the message clarifies.
    According to the court, the defendant admitted guilt, voluntarily compensated Russian Railways for property damage, cooperated with the investigation and repented of his actions.
    “”For the totality of crimes, the court sentenced the perpetrator to a final punishment of 13 years of imprisonment in a maximum security correctional colony with the first 2 years and 6 months to be served in prison, with a fine of 150 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for 1 year 6 months,” the court added.
    It is clarified that the verdict has not entered into legal force.
