VTB Group: more than 1 thousand skiers registered for the Yugra Ski Marathon

Applications for participation in the Ugra Ski Marathon, which will be held on April 6–7 in Khanty-Mansiysk, have already been submitted by 1,1 thousand skiers from 28 regions of Russia, Estonia and Kazakhstan. Every third registered person (355 people) intends to run a “marathon” distance, and approximately the same number (390 people) will complete a short five-kilometer section of the route. The oldest participant in the marathon is 80 years old, the youngest is only 1 year old, he was registered by his parents.

On the first, main day of the marathon, April 6, 953 people are planning to take part in the 5, 25 and 50 km freestyle races. 150 people showed up for the “classic race”. For participants with early registration, the organizers have provided reduced registration fees. In addition, participants who register for the marathon before February 10 can additionally issue themselves a personalized bib number. Online registration on the marathon website will last until the end of March, after which, until April 5, it will be possible to register for participation in the marathon only in person at the point where starting numbers are issued.

“Traditionally, the first to register are regular marathon participants and those who are going to complete the entire 50 km distance together with skiing legends. This year, interest in the second day of the marathon will obviously increase, since the race will take place along a new route – athletes will run a full 25-kilometer circle in the floodplain of the river, and then go to the city park and finish at the Olympic reserve school. Also new for Ugra residents will be the “Retro Race” with vintage ski equipment for 7 km, which will also go into the city,” said Vitaly Mosunov, joint business leader of VTB and Otkritie banks in the region.

Yugra Ski Marathon has been held in Khanty-Mansiysk since 2013 by the government of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, AU “YugraMegaSport”, the Ski Racing Federation of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug in partnership with Otkritie Bank (part of the VTB Group).
