In New Year's letter we promised that in the near future you will see useful changes on our website — and again we kept our promise . You probably already noticed that a switch has appeared in the upper right corner: we have implemented a dark theme for the site. Night mode has already become a rule of good form for modern media resources, because we know that a large proportion of readers visit us from mobile devices, for which this is especially important. Therefore, we have made the user experience even more comfortable.

Along with the dark theme, there are a few other less noticeable improvements to the site. Firstly, we continue to improve the built-in search on the site. Secondly, we have added a filter for obscene words in comments: we welcome mutually polite and constructive dialogues, so comments containing insults and obscene language will be sent for manual moderation. Well, thirdly, at your request, we have added the ability to add emojis to comments. On mobile devices, they can be added from the built-in keyboards, and on the desktop version of the site, the emoji panel is available using the Win+ hotkeys. for Windows devices and Ctrl+Cmd+Space for MacOS devices. In the near future, we will add a separate emoji button in the text formatting panel.

We have completed the initial testing of the dark theme — and now we invite all site users to evaluate it. Test, evaluate and share feedback on what you like and what might need to be improved or fixed. You can also share your opinion on whether it is worth automatically synchronizing the site theme with the theme of the mobile device: enable a dark or light theme when entering the site, depending on which system theme is enabled on the smartphone.
